For a blogger, lack of engagement spawns one of the worst feelings in the world. Seeing your hard work and brilliant blog posts go unnoticed and uncommented on day after day can leave you feeling frustrated, unappreciated, and just plain hurt. Speaking for myself, it hurts to know that content I worked so hard to create is not resonating with my readers. Or maybe I’m just deluding myself that my blog posts get any readers to begin with!
Worse still is that other visitors to your blog won’t leave comments unless there’s already one there, because many times no one wants to be first. This is especially true if the topic of your post is even a little controversial.
And lest you think it could get even worse, let me just say that the ultimate worst is when a prospective client or joint venture partner comes to check out your blog before doing business with you. If you can’t engage your own audience, how will you ever be able to bring traffic and conversation to your clients’ and partners’ blogs?
